There are three types of hardware that need to be delivered to install the NBN on the Sunshine Coast. Besides the NBN connection box, there will also be a home gateway, or router/modem, which is used to connect to the National Broadband Network connection box after you have selected your telephone and internet service provider.
The nearest room to the front of the house will usually host the NBN connection box.
Near to the connection box we find the home gateway which has two sockets, one for the internet line and the second one for the telephone line. Wi-Fi or wireless capabilities are found in any home gateway. Be careful when choosing the position for the wireless gateway as it will need to reach the whole house. If you have two-storey homes, you will probably need two devices. For one house or apartment, you should place it in the middle.
Cat 5 or Cat 6 cabling is known for supporting both the internet and telephone services. If you want to benefit from the highest performance, you need to opt for Cat 6.
In order to protect and obtain easy access to all the equipment installed on your property, you can always request the assistance of a home distributor.
Locating a cabler on the Sunshine Coast
A registered cabler is the only person entitled to install telecommunications cabling in concealed locations, according to the telecommunications Act 1997. Use the Registered Cablers website to search for a cabler near you.
All the necessary qualifications to install Cat 5/6 cable must be presented by the cabler prior to getting the job done. A compliance form called the Telecommunications Cabling Advice form 1 must be presented by the cabler when the work is done. Contact Brad at Red Hot Telecommunications.
